Project Integration with External Systems

Any project created in ReleaseOwl can be associated with an external system such as JIRA.

Once integrated, you can:

  • Sync Sprints, User Stories, and Backlogs from the external system into ReleaseOwl.

  • Create Sprints, User Stories, and Backlogs directly within ReleaseOwl, independent of any external system.

Note: The changes made in the external system get synced to ReleaseOwl, but the changes made in ReleaseOwl do not sync back to the external system.

Syncing Sprints

  1. To sync the sprints from an external system like JIRA, click Sync Sprints.

  1. Once the sync is completed, the sprints created in the external system will appear in the ReleaseOwl app.

Creating a Sprint in ReleaseOwl

  1. Click the Create Sprint link.

  2. Enter the Sprint Name and click Save.

Sprint Status

  • The status of the sprint that is currently active or has already started will appear as Active.

  • Sprints that are in the pipeline will appear as Draft.

Sprint Details

  • The Start Date and End Date of the active sprint appear under their respective columns in the grid.

Actions on a Sprint

The following actions can be performed on a sprint:

Edit

Allows editing of Sprint Name, Start Date, and End Date. Note: Only applicable for sprints created in ReleaseOwl, not synced sprints.

Start Sprint

Used to start a sprint that has not yet started. Note: Only available for sprints created in ReleaseOwl, not synced from external systems.

Complete Sprint

Completes an active sprint. Note: Only applicable for sprints created in ReleaseOwl, not those synced from external systems.

User Stories

Navigates to the User Stories associated with the sprint. Allows syncing from external systems or creating new user stories within ReleaseOwl.

Cancel Sprint

Cancels a sprint if the sprint goal becomes obsolete. Can be used at any time.

Note:

  • You can use the Search option in the Sprints screen by entering text in the search field.

  • The sprints can also be sorted either in Ascending or Descending Order based on your preference.
